On Wednesday 18 November 2026 at 6.30 pm, Isola di MAN in Nuoro welcomes photographer and journalist Valentina Tamborra for the presentation of her latest photobook, Anime artiche. Una trilogia. The event takes place during the photography workshop Sulle trace di Grazia Deledda, which Tamborra leads in Nuoro from 16 to 20 November. During the workshop, participants explore photographic portraiture alongside performers portraying characters from Deledda’s works.

In Anime artiche, Tamborra brings together stories of life and work beyond the Arctic Circle. The journey begins in Svalbard, where coal has shaped the history of the archipelago and where scientists now work alongside the last remaining miners. Further south, in the Lofoten Islands, fishing still sets the rhythm of life in coastal communities, while mass tourism and oil interests raise new questions about the islands’ future.

The final stop is Finnmark, in northern Norway. Here, among reindeer herders, the narrative explores the Sámi people’s connection to the tundra. Through the voices of those who live in these places, the book maps an Arctic landscape where climate change is measured in everyday practices, livelihoods and knowledge passed down from one generation to the next.
