On the occasion of the celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of Grazia Deledda’s Nobel Prize, the MAN Museum is taking part in the Distretto Culturale del Nuorese initiative Parole di grazia with a guided tour of Maria Lai’s work Andando via, created as a tribute to the writer and the characters of her novels.
The monument unfolds as a sequence of planes, resembling theatrical wings opening onto the landscape of Mount Ortobene: among pillars, female figures, shepherds, goats, writings and star maps, Deledda’s narrative world re-emerges, shaped by solitude, adverse destinies and profound questions about existence.
Maria Lai transforms these stories into a symbolic geography that brings together art, literature and landscape.
Today the site is in a state of neglect: the guided tour organised by MAN aims to become a moment of reflection and a symbolic act of collective “atonement”, drawing attention back to the monument and to the need to restore care, attention and value to it for the community. The tour will be led by curator Elisabetta Masala, who has dedicated studies, publications, talks and exhibitions at both national and international level to Maria Lai.
The meeting will take place on Friday, May 22 at 3:00 p.m. in the square in front of the Church of the Madonna della Solitudine (SP42, 2, Nuoro).
The tour, lasting approximately 30 minutes, will take place outdoors and is subject to weather conditions. Maximum 15 participants; booking is required by 12:00 p.m. on May 21 at +39 0784 252110.
