The initiative, promoted by MAN – Art Museum of the Province of Nuoro in collaboration with FIDAPA (Italian Federation of Women, Arts, Professions and Business), involves the collection of locks of hair from anyone who wants to give a symbolic sign of closeness to Iranian women and will have the image of theIranian artist Mobina Nouri by title They kill us in your silence: a sketch of pain and at the same time of hope that comes from those who experience the fight for freedom firsthand.
The presentation of the initiative and the first symbolic cutting will take place Friday 21 October at 12 at MAN , in via Sebastiano Satta 27 in Nuoro. FIDAPA volunteers will continue collecting locks at MAN over the next few days Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd, Tuesday 25th and Sunday 30th from 5.30pm to 7.30pm . Afterwards, the locks of hair will be symbolically delivered to the Iranian embassy in Rome.
“ A lock for freedom was born from a meeting with FIDAPA volunteers and from our harmony with other Italian museums, such as the MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome, Triennale Milan and Museo Novecento in Florence, which have proposed some initiatives in support of the women of Iran – explains MAN director Chiara Gatti. The objective of the museum is to look at the present and, unfortunately, our present shows us political and social upheavals and wars every day. The MAN does not want to remain indifferent and future initiatives such as the exhibition are part of this perspective Picasso and Guernica. Genesis of a masterpiece against all wars, which will open on November 18, and of course A lock for freedom ”.
“We are happy to be able to support the cause of Iranian women with a small symbolic gesture to facilitate their freedom – adds Caterina Cosseddu, president of FIDAPA Nuoro, the association that has always been at the forefront for the rights of women around the world – It is an initiative that we set up with the collaboration of the director and curator of the MAN, Chiara Gatti and Elisabetta Masala, to whom our heartfelt thanks go, and with the precious image of the Iranian artist Mobina Nouri, who will accompany us during these days. Our embrace and support goes to her and all Iranian women on the road to freedom.”
