Best wishes TEX
The 75 years of Tex Willer, the most popular hero of the West, coincide with the 80 years of Sergio Bonelli, the famous publishing house known for other successes such as Dylan Dog, Zagor, Nathan Never and Dragonero. But Tex remains his champion. The longest-lived Italian comics character who, together with Superman and Batman, has become one of the legends of world illustration. The Night Eagle, as the Navajo Indians call him, is a wise white chief, but also a ranger with infallible aim and guns that never empty. A myth of the western sagas created in 1948 by the pen of Gianluigi Bonelli and the brush of Aurelio Galleppini (aka Galep) born in Tuscany but of Sardinian parents; Growing up in Sardinia, he painted his exploits immersed in the virgin nature of the island. «He said he felt more Sardinian than Tuscan, since his parents had always lived in Sardinia and he spent a good part of his youth in this land, which he loved very much». Galep in fact inspired many landscapes of the West of Tex with the glimpses of Ogliastra and Barbagia. Harsh territories but dotted with the greenery of the scrub, rocks smoothed by the wind and Mediterranean heat. A West like John Ford but with the scent of myrtle. And which mixes suggestions of Mexico or the great prairies of the Midwest with the colors of the rocks of the heels.
Sergio Bonelli Publisher
Best wishes also to Sergio Bonelli Editore, the factory of dreams (and of author’s comics) born in 1941 from the intuition of the writer Gianluigi Bonelli who founded the Audace editorial team, directed first by his ex-wife Tea Bertasi and then by his son Sergio. A family-run company that has grown big, thanks to Tex, Zagor, Dylan Dog and many other very popular paper heroes. Eighty years later, his brand still captivates generations of readers, in the name of adventure and emotion. A volume reconstructs its glory today. Sergio Bonelli Publisher. 80 years of comics, hardback, pp. 386.
