From 16 to 19 December, MAN presents “X-LAB,” an open study and analysis space dedicated to a selection of works from the collection.
Each day, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., visitors will be able to watch live diagnostic investigations on the artworks, discovering the techniques, tools, and processes that guide museum conservation.
Curated by Rita Moro and Chiara Gatti, with restorer Giuliana Fenu, “X-LAB” will offer the opportunity to observe the various stages of the work up close and explore the technologies used in safeguarding cultural heritage.
On Tuesday, 16 December, to mark the start of activities, the public will have the chance to meet and speak with a team of professionals involved in the analyses:
• Prof. Stefano Columbu – Mineralogical-petrographic applications and Petro-archaeometry
• Prof. Daniele Chiriu – Applied physics for Cultural Heritage
• Prof. Carla Cannas – Diagnostics and new technologies for Restoration
• Dr. Valentina Mameli – Cultural Heritage Chemistry
• Dr. Stefania Porcu – Optical spectroscopy
• Francesco Dolfi – Physics undergraduate student
A rare opportunity to go “behind the scenes” of the museum and gain a close understanding of the analysis, care, and protection work that makes the preservation of heritage possible.
