Museum and Community

Andrea Nante in conversation with Chiara Gatti.
With the participation of Bishop Mons. Antonio Mura,
Don Ignazio Ferreli, and Maria Sofia Pisu from the Maria Lai Archive.
Saturday, October 4 – 6:00 p.m.

On the occasion of the XXI Day of Contemporary Art organized by AMACI, MAN in Nuoro is pleased to host a public talk titled “Museum and Community.”
Chiara Gatti, Director of the MAN Museum, will be in conversation with Andrea Nante, Director of the Diocesan Museum of Padua, on the theme of the Day: the museum as a space of plural education, learning, and sharing of experiences and knowledge.

Also joining the discussion will be Bishop Mons. Antonio Mura, Don Ignazio Ferreli, Professor of Philosophy at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sardinia, and Maria Sofia Pisu from the Maria Lai Archive, for a collective reflection on Maria Lai’s public artwork Andando via, installed in 2011 in Nuoro at the foot of Mount Ortobene, next to the 17th-century Church of the Madonna della Solitudine.

The work was conceived by the artist as a profound meditation on the relationship between art, the sacred, community, and territory.

In addition, workshops for children, adults, and families on the theme of traditional bread will be held by the MAN Educational Department. These accompany the exhibition Ilaria Turba. I pani del desiderio, a participatory artistic project that, through a long journey across Italy, brought together numerous local communities around the ritual and symbolic act of transforming flour and water into bread forms that preserve memories and dreams.

Free admission, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
