Odessa dub Steps

Francesco Medda Arrogalla is a sound artist born in Sardinia in 1981. His research, which began in 2003, unfolds between popular cultures, soundscapes and contemporary music.

He has always listened to hip hop, dub, techno, traditional Sardinian music, people’s voices, traffic and the sounds of nature, creating a vast archive of experiences and sound materials, considering and studying them all as potentially useful elements for creating new music. This is all part of his kaleidoscopic aesthetic.

In this sense, he is a pioneer and also one of the greatest exponents on the island, but not only, of an original and always updated way of musical production. He has always combined his research and composition activity with intense live activity, in Sardinia and outside the island.

It has been carrying on since 2003 “Arrogalla”, his main personal project, with numerous and diverse productions and hundreds of concerts throughout Europe. Arrogalla’s sound is a very creative and sophisticated blend of Sardinian, tropical and Mediterranean popular sounds that meet abstract hip hop and contemporary music, all elaborated through the language of original dub.

In addition to his personal artistic path, he has always cultivated collaborations with other authors and artists, in particular with Michela Murgia, Mauro Palmas, Malasorti, KOI and Giacomo Casti.
