From the January 13th 2023 the MAN opens to the public new chapter of BELONGINGS , a delve into the permanent collection with a thematic focus concentrated on the works of the first decade of the 2000s.

The first years of the 21st century are a rapid and frenetic period, characterized by rampant technological progress and a succession of events that have shaken global balances. In this context, globalization has progressively extended, also contaminating the territories of art and forcing artists to deal with a phenomenon that is as pressing as it is complex.

In Sardinia the new century opens with the debut of the MAN, opened to the public in 1999 and quickly became a point of reference for the in-depth study of contemporary languages ​​and for the investigation of the artistic ferment active on the island.

MEMBERSHIP #2 offers a multiplicity of perspectives on the Sardinian art of the “short” decade. While not claiming to be exhaustive, the exhibition brings together a selection from the permanent collection: works by Giusy Calia , Pinuccia Marras, Pastorello, Fabio Saiu, Felice Serreli, Rachele Sotgiu created in just over a decade, the result of different and personal paths. Works differing in technique, approach and cultural references, which allow us to summarize a cross-section of the variety of results obtained and the complexity of a decade.
