The MAN, as a museum open to the community, operates with the aim of offering opportunities for growth and education in beauty to a public called to actively participate in the life of the institute, through experiences and opportunities for in-depth study, but also play and experimentation . The art that welcomes is the art that communicates. This is why MAN believes in teaching for children and adults and in teacher training. To be hosted in the museum rooms themselves. Or to be reached in the studio spaces thanks to the idea of ​​a museum capable of leaving its walls and inhabiting the spaces of life and everyday life.

For schools

For 20 years, the MAN Teaching Department has been designing workshops inspired by the museum’s permanent collection, large temporary exhibitions, but above all by current issues that combine creativity and awareness of current issues, from recycling to bio art, from energy saving to inclusion .

For teachers

The MAN Teaching Department, supported by the museum’s curatorial team, offers teachers specific training courses designed on scientific analysis paths for major transversal themes aligned with the current exhibitions, including workshops on method and reading of the works, as well as in art criticism with basic notions of museography and museology.

Autumn-Winter 2022 activities | 2023

Visit to the exhibition . As part of the upcoming exhibition “Picasso and Guernica. Genesis of a masterpiece”, preparatory lessons from our curators at your institute, with a consequent calendar of visits to the exhibition for groups.

Free guided tour reserved for teachers with in-depth lesson and workshop activity “Art against dictatorships”. Preparation of a handout on the topic, edited by the MAN Teaching Department.

Working in a museum. The art professions. The MAN goes to school. Each professional active at MAN tells the students in the classroom about his training, his tasks, his responsibilities and his typical day, from curating to welcoming, from restoration to installation. Highly educational in the context of the paths for transversal skills and orientation (PCTO).

Training course for teachers on the topics of museography and museology. Two lessons at school, two at MAN for a total of 10 hours. With industry experts and visiting professors. Notions of method and design laboratory. (By reservation, upon obtaining the minimum number of participants, equal to 10 teachers)

Weekly internship | monthly. For the field training of students, the MAN offers the possibility – subject to selection agreed with the teachers – to test the relational skills of the students in the context of short or long-term internships, which will see the students active in the following roles: reception, custodianship of the rooms, timely narration (living captions), support for teaching operators, archiving and cataloging of the library, communication and social media.

Contemporary art history course for adults. Protagonists and current artistic trends in the Western context from the post-World War II period to the present day. The course intends to address the panorama of contemporary art in Italy and around the world, ranging from the experiences of the 1950s to the latest generation research. The historical analysis of each period will go hand in hand with a reflection on the evolution of languages, on the experimentation of new media, on the changes in the relationship between author and work of art, but also between work of art and public. Current themes will also be touched upon, such as the anthropological implications of the most recent studies, the dialogue between past and present, following the motto “all art is contemporary”. There will be no shortage of significant insights into problems of conservation and restoration of contemporary techniques.

The teacher card is valid for all activities.

All activities are recognized for upgrade purposes. The same recognition is enjoyed by the free guided tours of the main exhibitions reserved for teachers to promote in-depth knowledge of the exhibitions and their educational potential. Appointments will be communicated via e-mail (to the entire directory of the Education Department), on the museum’s website and via social media.

Rates . All activities are free with the exception of the Contemporary Art Course for adults (offered at a cost of 10 euros per lesson for a total of 8 lessons, total package offered at 60 euros). After receiving confirmation of registration, advance payment must be made within 10 days of the start of the activity at the MAN reception.
